Park is VERY clean, easy to maneuver and very well thought out. Loved that all sites were pull-thrus and had concrete patio. This is a good template for other parks to follow when thinking about layouts. Restrooms are VERY clean. Despite being a holiday weekend, it was very quiet and we seemed to be the only people that were out and about during the day and even at night. Owners seemed very nice, however I did go to the office to inquire about ice one day. I walked in the door that was marked "Absolutely NO pets in the building" and was immediately greeted by a dog. Now, I love dogs, so I didn't mind, but it did strike me as odd. The dog's owner was working the office that day and was on the computer playing a computer game. I stood in the door for a pretty good while and he never acknowledged me, just kept playing his game, until I finally broke the silence and asked about ice. He didn't look up, just said that they don't carry any and I'd have to go to a nearby convenience store. I honestly think I could have walked out of there with his dog and he wouldn't have noticed!
This is our "home" campground that will always be our first choice for a weekend getaway. The park is huge and has something for everyone. With the size of the campground, you can get as close to the action or as far away as you'd like. There is basketball, putt-putt, tennis, game room, LARGE rec area, 2 swimming pools and a marina. In the rec hall is a cafe/diner that you can get meals at if you wish. We feel very safe here and usually everybody that stays here are very observant of the rules. We recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in the north Alabama area.
This is a very nice/rustic campground on top of Monte Sano mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. The sites are varied from small to quite spacious. There is a limited number of full-hookup sites available, so you need to get there early to snag one of those sites. There seems to be a movement to update the campground if the state will release some money and if that happens, we were told that all sites would be full hookup and many improvements would be made. This is a nice campground for a quiet weekend. Huntsville is minutes away, and there is plenty to do up at the state park.
